REDSEA gallery is proud to present a collection of new paintings by Australian artist, Gary Winfield.

Winfield’s work focuses on the current thinking on consciousness – what it is and where it is. His artwork endeavours to visualise the abstract notions of consciousness through splashes of vivid colour that fall and spider onto the canvas.

His art does not attempt to interpret science but instead to illustrate the sheer and ungraspable complexity of the ghost in the machine; the uncertainty of mixing paint a reference to the mathematics at the core of quantum physics.

“Physicists cannot predict the behaviour of a particle but can predict the probability of particle behaviour. In my work I am seeking a level of complexity that befits this consciousness, by using motion and movement through, across and into different depth spaces. My organic coloured shapes both create the space and are created by it.”  Gary Winfield, 2015.
