'Maggiore', 180h x 300w cm, Rice paper & Acrylic on CanvasLargest Oval Flowerbed to date
Zhuang's favourite artwork from this new collection at REDSEA Gallery would be ‘Maggiore’, which is the largest oval flowerbed that he has made to date, with a size of 180x300cm. Upon closer inspection, you will be able to recognise a horizon and a lake that bends around a coast; this is the magical view that Zhuang sees of Lago Maggiore from his residence in Switzerland. Therefore, the title represents both the lake and the unique size of the flowerbed (‘maggiore means ‘large’ in Italian).

Over 30 years, Zhuang has cemented himself as an artist to watch through his innovative and iconic works. For those uninitiated with his works, Zhuang creates breathtaking paintings made from materials often found in Chinese traditional art, of which he creates vibrant, chameleon-like artworks that transform as you interact with his pieces.

All artworks from this collection have been named after the names of different tulip species. With more than 3,000 varieties descended from roughly 100 species, the tulip family is extensive, diverse, and extremely colourful. Zhuang was initially inspired by the Tulip Season in Amsterdam where he was first based as a fine artist. Ever since then, he has been exploring the tulip flower as a motif in his signature Flowerbeds.Zhuang says: "I hope that the viewers of my exhibitions experience my work as a journey of happiness, colour, and inspiration. I hope that the viewers get the opportunity to disconnect with the hassles of daily life and to immerse themselves in the feelings of joy that I aspire to share with them through my art; the joy that I get to experience when observing the beauty in the small things in life and in the process of creating my flower works."Please contact us at info@redseagallery.com or +65 6732 6711 for more information.
