Australian artist Lauren Wilhelm draws continual inspiration from history, Renaissance portraiture, and the world around her. Fascinated by the overlooked narratives of everyday life, she often juxtaposes classical imagery with contemporary suburban elements, creating works that feel both timeless and familiar. Deeply connected to animals and nature, Lauren paints from her bushland studio accompanied by music and her rescued rainbow lorikeet, Squishy, often singing alongside her. With more than 22 highly successful solo exhibitions to date, Wilhelm’s works are held in numerous private collections across Australia and have been exhibited internationally in Italy, Spain, New York, and soon, for the first time, in Singapore. -

A Transient Feeling Captured Through Lauren’s Imagery
The repeated juxtaposition of the old and new perfectly encapsulates a feeling: Nostalgia. Through each work, Wilhelm seeks to evoke personal memories and emotions unique to each viewer — intimate experiences deeply rooted in sentiment and recollection. As aptly described by Stuart Hicks, Chairman of the Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association, Wilhelm's works “help us to access nostalgia, belongings, beliefs, dreams, [and] feelings of place that are often very temporary, transient. Only great artists can sometimes find a way of helping you access that sort of feeling.”"I’ve always loved both classical and modern art and maybe I’m trying to blend them in my own style – melancholism. I am a very nostalgic person and perhaps as this feeling is hard to communicate with words, I’m endeavouring to capture the feeling in paint."-- Lauren Wilhelm -
